PHILADELPHIA, June 28 (Xinhua) -- The expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup group stage concluded with record-breaking attendance and unprecedented global participation, drawing a total of 1,667,819 fans as all 32 teams found the back of the net across 48 matches. Here are some key statistics from the group stage:
1,667,819: A total of 1,667,819 fans attended the group stage, averaging 34,746 spectators per match. The opening Group B clash between reigning UEFA Champions League winner Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles drew the largest crowd at 80,619. Real Madrid's match against Mexico's Pachuca in Charlotte drew the second-largest attendance with 70,248.
144: The 48 matches played across 12 venues in the United States produced 144 goals, averaging three per match.
72: Players from 72 countries or regions featured during the group stage. Brazil (91 players) and Argentina (73) led all nations in representation. Portugal (32) was the most represented European country, while Mexico (26), Morocco (22), New Zealand (22) and South Korea (18) led their respective confederations.
32: All 32 participating teams scored at least once. Al Ain's 2-1 win over Wydad Casablanca in their final Group G match ensured every team found the net before the knockout phase.
18: Brazil produced the most individual goalscorers, with 18 players finding the target. Argentina followed with 17, while France had 11.
3: Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich), Angel Di Maria (Benfica), Wessam Abou Ali (Al Ahly FC) and Kenan Yildiz (Juventus) led the group stage scoring charts with three goals apiece.
1: Di Maria remains one of 14 FIFA World Cup winners still in the competition. The 2022 World Cup winner with Argentina is also among 15 players who have now scored in both the FIFA World Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
The knockout stage kicks off later this week as teams continue their pursuit of the title.
