BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) -- China is strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposes the U.S. decision to impose an additional 10-percent tariff on goods imported from China again, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce said Tuesday.China will take countermeasures to firmly safeguard its own rights and interests, the spokesperson added.China is one of the countries with the strictest and most rigorously enforced anti-drug policies in the world, said the spokesperson. China and the United States have engaged in extensive and in-depth anti-drug cooperation, achieving remarkable results. However, the United States has repeatedly shifted the blame and imposed additional tariffs on imports from China -- citing the fentanyl issue as a pretext."What the U.S. side has done is a typical act of unilateralism and bullying in disregard of facts, international trade rules and the voices of all parties," the spokesperson said. The unilateral imposition of tariffs by the United States violates the rules of the World Trade Organization, undermines the multilateral trading system, and not only fails to resolve its own problems, but also disrupts China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation as well as the normal international trade order, according to the spokesperson.China urges the United States to respect the rights and interests of other countries and immediately withdraw its unreasonable and baseless unilateral tariff measures that harm others without benefiting itself."China hopes that the United States will view and handle issues in an objective and rational manner and return to the right track of properly resolving differences through equal dialogue as soon as possible," the spokesperson said. The United States has announced that it would impose an additional 10-percent tariff on products imported from China, effective from March 4. This move follows an additional 10-percent tariff imposed by the United States on products imported from China in February this year.
