Emmanuel Latte Lath scored on a penalty kick in the 11th minute of second-half stoppage time to give Atlanta United a 1-1 tie with host Toronto FC on Saturday night.
The tying goal was set up by Toronto's Charlie Sharp being called for a kicking foul in the box five minutes earlier. Sharp kicked the right knee of Luke Brennan and the call was upheld after a lengthy video review.
Deybi Flores scored on a header early in the second half for Toronto (4-11-6, 18 points), which fell to 2-7-4 at home. Matty Longstaff set up the goal in the 48th minute with a solid corner kick.
Atlanta United (4-10-7, 19 points) is winless in their past five matches (0-3-2).
Atlanta's goalkeeper Jayden Hibbert made four saves, while Toronto counterpart Sean Johnson had two.
Two minutes into the second half, Theo Corbeanu's left-footed shot was stopped by Hibbert.
One minute later, Longstaff took a corner kick and sent a cross into the area in front of the net. Flores had created space and easily headed the ball into the net to break the scoreless tie.
Corbeanu had a chance to add insurance in the 79th minute but his fierce left-footed boot was saved by Hibbert.
Toronto looked headed to the win before the late foul that led to Latte Lath's first goal since March 29 against New York City FC. Johnson got his left hand on the penalty kick and it bounced into the net.
Latte Lath earlier put a right-footer in the net in the 21st minute but the goal was negated due to him being offside.
Latte Lath had another good chance in the 34th minute but his right-footed shot from the right of the net rolled past the far post.
Brooks Lennon had a solid opportunity in the third minute of first-half stoppage time, but Johnson knocked his right-footed blast over the net.
Earlier, Atlanta's Bartosz Slisz sent a right-footed shot on net in the ninth minute that Johnson knocked away.
Toronto had two good chances in the first half.
In the 37th minute, Corbeanu had a right-footed shot stopped by Hibbert.
Hibbert also made the save on Longstaff's right-footed shot in the second minute of first-half stoppage time.
