Chinese premier calls on U.S. Congress to facilitate bilateral exchanges, cooperation

Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with a U.S. congressional delegation in Beijing on Sunday, calling on the U.S. Congress to view China and bilateral relations in a correct way, actively facilitate exchanges and cooperation, and play a constructive role in fostering China-U.S. friendship and common development.

When meeting with the delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives, Li noted that as China and the United States are major countries with significant global influence, maintaining stable, sound, and sustainable development of bilateral relations serves the common interests of both sides and meets the expectations of the international community.

5 killed, 2 injured in Israeli airstrike on southern Lebanon

Five people, including three children, were killed and two others injured on Sunday afternoon when an Israeli drone strike hit a motorcycle and a passing car in the southern Lebanese city of Bint Jbeil, health and security sources said.

Lebanon's Public Health Emergency Operations Center confirmed the casualties. According to Lebanese army intelligence, the drone fired two guided missiles, killing Hezbollah member Mohammad Mroueh on the motorcycle and four civilians in the nearby car.

Over 500 economic, trade deals inked at China-ASEAN Expo

The 22nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit concluded Sunday in Nanning, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with more than 500 economic and trade agreements signed at the event.

Wei Zhaohui, secretary-general of CAEXPO Secretariat, told a press briefing Sunday afternoon that this year's expo saw the signing of 155 investment projects, with 74 focused on processing and manufacturing, accounting for 88 percent of total investment.

Britain recognizes State of Palestine despite U.S. objection

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Sunday announced that Britain has formally recognized the State of Palestine, affirming Britain's support for "the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination" and the two-state solution.

He condemned in a video announcement "the man-made humanitarian crisis in Gaza," adding that "tens of thousands have been killed, including thousands as they tried to collect food and water. This death and destruction horrifies us all. It must end."
