Rafael Marchan hit two doubles for four runs in one inning to help a Philadelphia Phillies defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates' split squad 14-10 in a spring-training offensive showcase Friday in Bradenton, Fla.
The Phillies dropped a nine-run fourth inning after the Pirates went ahead 3-0 on Ryan O'Hearn's three-run home run in the third. Marchan plated Philadelphia's first run, and after Felix Reyes tied the game with a double and two batters drew bases-loaded walks, Marchan hit a three-run double to center. Bryan De La Cruz finished the inning with an RBI double of his own.
The Pirates didn't go quietly, as Yordany De Los Santos, Derek Berg and Omar Alfonzo homered to pull them into a 10-10 tie by the eighth. But De La Cruz scored the go-ahead run on an error in the top of the ninth and Carson DeMartini added cushion with a three-run blast to center.
