Nick Suzuki had two goals and an assist to help the Montreal Canadiens rally for their fifth straight win, 3-1 against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday in Raleigh, N.C.
Cole Caufield had a goal and an assist and Lane Hutson had two assists for the Canadiens (42-21-10, 94 points). Jakub Dobes made 34 saves.
Andrei Svechnikov scored and Frederik Andersen made 15 saves for the Hurricanes (46-21-6, 98 points), who have lost just twice in their past six games -- both times against Montreal.
Carolina dominated the first period, outshooting Montreal 13-6, including a 10-0 advantage in shots on goal by the nine-minute mark. The visitors didn't record their first shot on goal until just before the 12-minute mark.
Svechnikov scored on the power play to give the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead at 8:37 of the first period. Sebastian Aho's keep-in at the point hit Seth Jarvis, who gathered the puck and swept it toward the right circle, where Svechnikov stepped into a one-timer that beat Dobes high.
Carolina came out pressing again in the second period, hemming Montreal in the zone for nearly two minutes early in the frame.
But the hosts couldn't capitalize, and Suzuki tied it 1-1 at 6:18. Hutson collected a rebound along the right wall in the defensive zone and dished a long feed to the opposite side for Caufield. The winger took it to the top of the left circle before centering it for an oncoming Suzuki, who snapped it glove side past Andersen.
Caufield made it 2-1 at 17:32. Hutson intercepted a Hurricanes clearing attempt in the zone and sent it up for Suzuki. The Canadiens captain sent a short pass inside the zone to Caufield, whose snap shot from the right circle beat Andersen bar down on the far side.
Suzuki connected on the power play to push it to 3-1 with seven seconds left in the period. Andersen stopped him with a pair of pad saves, but Suzuki kept at it and pushed it past the netminder.
