Chennedy Carter and the Las Vegas Aces go for a quick sweep of the Sun when the teams meet for the second time in three days in Connecticut on Friday night.
Carter, who played in Mexico and China in 2025, poured in 27 points off the bench in the Aces' 98-69 win over the Sun on Wednesday. It was her best performance yet for the defending WNBA champs.
'Just to be honest, I am just having fun,' said Carter, who has been on four WNBA teams since 2020. 'I am just thankful that I have a team that has embraced me and allowed me to be me. It doesn't feel forced. It just feels right, and I'm taking it one game at a time.'
Carter has impressed Aces superstar and league MVP A'ja Wilson.
'You have a three-level scorer coming off the bench that can get you 30 and 10 and five, not a lot of teams have that,' Wilson said. 'We don't ask too much from her, just to do her job and be in our system shows the professional she truly is. It's been a joy to watch her grow and flourish.'
Wilson is off to her usual strong start, averaging 20 points through three games for the Aces (2-1). She collected three first-half fouls in Wednesday's contest, but her team never trailed after the first five minutes and led by as much as 36 points.
Las Vegas has won the last nine meetings with the Sun.
'It's easy to play on some big nights, but on nights like tonight, when it's a Wednesday, it's on the road, and it can be hard to get up for games sometimes,' Wilson said. 'But this is when you start stacking games and wins. It was a good win for us.'
The Sun (0-3) are one of two winless teams in the WNBA. They have lost the first three games by an average of 22 points and rank last in the league in scoring and points allowed.
Sun second-year coach Rachid Meziane knew his team would be tested by the Aces and was clearly disappointed in the postgame press conference.
'I'm not sure that we play hard enough to compete against this team, but we play them again, and I hope we can do something different,' Meziane said. 'We have some good flashes, but not good enough to compete against the best.'
Second-year Sun forward Aneesah Morrow had 16 points and 11 rebounds against the Aces on Wednesday. According to the Sun, she became just the fifth player in Sun history to record a double-double in less than 20 minutes of game play.
When asked about starting Morrow instead of bringing her off the bench, Meziane bristled, saying his team lost the game.
